Why it works
Materials & construction

We mold every set from Dura-Flex 2000 thermoplastic olefin, a proprietary blend that flexes on impact without cracking. The material has passed our thermal cycling tests from -40°F to 140°F without warping or brittleness. UV inhibitors throughout the polymer keep the matte black finish from fading gray after years of sun exposure.

Sizing & fitment for F-150

Bushwacker Extend-a-Fender flares are vehicle-specific — our F-150 kits fit 2009–2014 (12th generation) and 2015–2020 (13th generation) models without modifications. The front flares extend 1.75 inches past the factory fender lip; rears match that coverage to keep the profile consistent.

We engineer the contour to follow the F-150’s wheel arch closely, so there’s minimal gap between flare and body. This tight fit prevents the flapping noise that can occur with loosely mounted flares at highway speeds. If you’re running aftermarket wheels with significant offset, verify your tire sits no more than two inches outside the stock wheel well — beyond that, you may need a wider flare style from our Pocket-Style lineup, which offers broader coverage for heavily modified suspensions.

Installation & hardware

Installation & hardware

No-drill approach

Our standard F-150 kit uses factory bolt locations in the fender liner and rocker panel. You’ll remove the factory wheel-well liner clips, position the flare, and thread stainless bolts through existing holes. The rear flares attach to the bed rail and bumper bracket; fronts anchor to the fender and inner liner. Total hardware count is 48 pieces per four-flare set.

Tools & time

You need a 10mm socket, Phillips screwdriver, and torque wrench (we spec 15 ft-lbs on all fasteners). Most installers finish in 90 to 120 minutes working alone. We include a printed guide with torque specs and photos for each mounting point. If you prefer visual steps, our full installation walkthrough covers the process from wheel removal through final torque checks, and the same mounting sequence applies across both generations of F-150 covered by this kit.

Perfect fit on my 2018 F-150
I installed these on my 2018 F-150 SuperCrew in about two hours. Every bolt lined up with factory holes, and the flares sit tight against the body with no gaps. They’ve been on for eight months through winter road spray and summer trail rides — no fading or cracking yet.

Low profile looks great
I wanted tire coverage without the bulky rivet-style look. These Extend-a-Fenders gave me exactly that. They follow the F-150’s body lines closely and don’t stick out like some other brands. The matte finish matches my bed liner perfectly.

Easy install, solid protection
We put these on a 2015 F-150 with 33-inch tires. Installation was straightforward using the included hardware. The flares cover the tires well and feel sturdy. Only complaint is I wish the rears had one more mounting point for extra rigidity, but they haven’t moved at all in six months.

Held up great off-road
I run my F-150 on forest service roads regularly, and these flares have taken hits from branches and rocks without cracking. The Dura-Flex material flexes and springs back. Much better than the cheap plastic flares I had on my last truck.

Factory look with better coverage
These flares look almost OEM on my 2020 F-150. The contour matches the fender perfectly, and the finish doesn’t look cheap. I get compliments from people who assume they came from the dealer. Install took me about 90 minutes working alone.

Lifetime warranty sealed the deal
I’ve bought fender flares before that cracked after two winters. Bushwacker’s lifetime warranty gave me confidence to buy these, and they’ve lived up to it. No issues after a full year, and the finish still looks new even after northern winters.

Good to know

Common questions about Extend-a-Fender flares for F-150

No, our F-150 Extend-a-Fender kits use existing factory mounting points and require no drilling on 2009–2014 and 2015–2020 models. You’ll remove factory wheel-well liner clips and install the flares using the included stainless steel hardware through pre-existing holes in the fender liner and body.

Some aftermarket bumpers or grille guards may block access to factory mounting points, in which case you may need to drill alternative holes. Contact our support team with your specific truck configuration if you’re unsure about fitment.

Bushwacker Extend-a-Fender flares add 1.75 inches of coverage per side, front and rear. This accommodates most one- to two-inch lift kits with tires up to 33 inches in diameter. If you’re running a larger lift or wider tires that extend more than two inches past the factory fender, you may need our Pocket-Style or Max Coverage flares for full protection.

Measure from your current fender edge to the outermost point of your tire to confirm the Extend-a-Fender coverage will meet your needs.

Yes, the Dura-Flex 2000 material accepts automotive paint and spray-in bed liner coatings. We recommend scuffing the surface with 220-grit sandpaper, applying a flexible bumper primer, and finishing with your chosen topcoat.

Many F-150 owners coat the flares in the same bed liner product used in the truck bed for a uniform appearance. The factory matte black finish also blends well with most dark-colored trucks without additional coating.

Yes, the flares are designed to sit above the factory mud flap’s top edge, so both components can remain installed. The flare does not interfere with the mud flap’s function or mounting points.

If you have aftermarket mud flaps that extend higher than factory units, check clearance before installation to ensure the flare bottom edge doesn’t contact the flap.

You’ll need a 10mm socket or wrench, Phillips screwdriver, and torque wrench capable of 15 ft-lbs. A jack and jack stands are necessary to remove the wheels for access to the fender liner mounting points. Most installers complete the job in 90 to 120 minutes.

All required hardware is included in the kit. We provide a printed installation guide with torque specifications and step-by-step photos for each mounting location.

Yes, our F-150 Extend-a-Fender kits fit SuperCab, SuperCrew, and Regular Cab models with 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, and 8-foot beds. The flare design is the same across all cab and bed lengths for each model year range.

Fitment is confirmed for 2009–2014 (12th generation) and 2015–2020 (13th generation) F-150 trucks. If you have a 2021 or newer F-150, contact us to verify current fitment availability.

We thermal-cycle test every batch of Dura-Flex 2000 material from -40°F to 140°F to ensure it won’t crack in winter cold or warp in summer heat. The polymer includes UV inhibitors that prevent the matte black finish from fading to gray under constant sun exposure.

Our warranty covers material defects including cracking from temperature extremes, though we have very few claims related to climate damage even from customers in northern and desert regions.
